MEM18 in Andong, Korea

Published on 28 September 2018

The 9th Mechanical and Electromagnetic Properties of Composite Superconductors (MEM18) workshop was held in Andong, South Korea from June 17 to 20, 2018. The workshop focused on the electromechanical properties along with the characterization of practical composite superconductors for electrical device applications, especially magnets and coils.

Carmine Senatore presented the results of the collaborations of the Group of Applied Superconductivity with CERN, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory and European Synchrotron Facility. The title of his invited talk was: “On the mechanisms behind the irreversible degradation of Nb3Sn wires under mechanical loads: effects of the filament microstructure and of the stress redistribution”.
