First annual meeting of the Future Circular Collider study

Published on 20 March 2015

The 1st annual meeting of the Future Circular Collider (FCC) study is held in Washington D.C. from the 23rd to the 27th of March 2015. The goal is to explore the options for the post-LHC particle accelerator, with an emphasis on high-energy frontier machines. Superconducting magnets able to generate very high fields – well above the present limits of the LHC dipoles and quadrupoles – are one of the key ingredients required to build a future circular collider. Carmine Senatore from UNIGE will present at the international community the results of recent tests performed in his laboratory on high performance Nb3Sn wires envisaged for use in the next-generation accelerator magnets.
